Fraser Esports & Minerva
press release -A world’s first
Minerva statement –
“We’re thrilled to announce a pioneering addition to our Sixth Form curriculum: the world’s first online-only BTEC in esports. Launching in September, this exciting new course, equivalent to one A Level, has been developed in partnership with Fraser Esports LTD and will be facilitated by Pearson.
The esports BTEC provides a deep dive into the business, marketing, and events side of one of the fastest-growing global industries. This unique offering underscores MVA’s commitment to innovative, flexible education, as our students can study from anywhere, manage part-time work, travel, or even kickstart their own businesses.
Headmaster Lawrence Tubb is passionate about this latest addition to MVA’s Sixth Form curriculum, “We’re excited to offer this ground breaking BTEC to our students. They have a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the rapidly expanding esports industry while enjoying a robust and balanced academic experience.”
James Fraser-Murison, national award-winning esports teacher and founder of Fraser Esports, shared in our enthusiasm. He said, “The world is changing fast. I’m excited to work with an education provider that recognises the need to innovate and provide education without barriers. I’m looking forward to meeting the first cohort in September – I’m confident they’ll do amazing things in the sport.
“The esports industry is currently worth north of $1.3 billion dollars. Our job as teachers is to prepare our students for the ever-changing workforce and when you take into account the multiple jobs within this industry, shoutcasting, creating your own events, social media management and more, this is absolutely the right time to have this qualification taught online.”
The esports BTEC qualifications were developed by awarding organisation Pearson, in partnership with the British Esports Federation. British Esports COO, Dave Martin commented: “Currently the BTEC is already available in over 140 centres across the UK who are delivering amazing interventions contributing to the success and achievement of students now progressing into industry and Higher Education. Being able to widen this opportunity through the creation of an accessible virtual learning environment for those who otherwise wouldn’t be able to access this provision presents another great opportunity to access the esports industry through MVA and Fraser Esports accredited by Pearson.”
